Timber!!!

Apollo and Dixie got adopted by a very nice family but two days later we got another foster dog. His name is Timber and he is another very sweet dog.

Coffee Table

I had a piece of glass that I got in an auction a long time ago that I hadn't done anything with. I decided to make a coffee table out of it. I did up some plans to make the table out of the piece of glass and one sheet of plywood.

Both pieces fold flat so they are easy to move.

DOGS!!

We found a place called Boxer Buddies Rescue (www.boxerbuddies.org) that helps to get Boxer dogs adopted. They are local to New England and keep the dogs in foster homes until they can be matched up with an appropriate adoptive family. We signed up to be a foster home so we could have "temporary" dogs in the summer and also help out the organization.
Today we got Apollo and Dixie. Apollo is a 8year old male and Dixie is a 7 year old female. You can see pictures and a video below and we'll post more about them after we have spent sometime together.
Dixie has the purple collar and Apollo has the green.

Headboard

In our new apartment there is a window right above our bed with curtain so we can put the bed up against the wall. We didn't have a headboard so the pillows kept falling off and Kristen requested a headboard.
We ended up getting a hollow-core door and putting oak trim on it to make a low-cost, nice-looking headboard. We stained it really dark and you can see the results below. No more falling pillows and it's still pretty flat to move.

Of course after a week of working on projects I made myself a steak to celebrate. Notice the butter dish does not look as excited about it as I was.

Media Cabinet

We got this old dresser for free from Craigslist.com. I did some research and found out it was from the 1930's but it's not really worth anything besides being a dresser. It's really nice though with mahogany trim and some type of veneer on the rest. The handles are brass.

I decided to make it into a cabinet to hold all the electronics we have around the TV. It took a little longer than expected but turned out nice in the end.

This is the finished product. It looks a lot like the old dresser but we refinished it. We have the TV and a digital picture frame sitting on top. And of course we have the Bose speakers.

This is the "suprise" picture. I cut the fronts off of the drawers on the side and made them into doors. I also did that with the top drawer in the center but it folds down instead of to the side. The bottom two drawers in the center are still drawers. I built shelves inside to hold all the equipment.
This is the left side where we have the printer and the uninterpretable power supply (UPS). The printer is connected to the computer and the network for wireless printing. The UPS provides a battery backup for the computer and also outlets for charging things. That is my MP3 player charging in the picture.
This is the center section where we have a pullout keyboard tray with a mouse pad that swings out to the side.
Also in the center is the Bose surround sound system. You can see the white bar running along the back of the cabinet. That is wire duct where all of the wires run so it looks very neat on the inside also.
This is the right side which is very busy. From top to bottom we have a power strip, cable amplifier, Vonage phone router, wireless router, Digital Video Recorder (DVR), Cable Modem, DVD burner, Media card reader, computer, and scanner. To the left of the computer there is also power outlet I put in the cabinet to plug in the power strip and UPS. I have them on a switch so if we go away we can turn off everything at once.
All of this equipment does generate a lot of heat so I put registers on the back behind the surround sound system and the computer. It's stay cool enough to not be a problem.
